You’re Invited: Wedding Invitations under $1

There are endless options out there for how to invite everyone to your wedding, how is a girl to choose? There are about a million places to order invitations from online, plus thanks to Pinterest you can also download countless free wedding invitation templates for a true DIY project. Whew. At some point you may seriously consider inviting everyone via an email, text message or clever Facebook post… 🙂

Here is some general advice to get you started. Also be forewarned that your dear sweet fiance probably will not have a huge opinion about your invitation options. This may be a good time to get your bridesmaids and mama in on some planning action if you want someone to pour over invitation details with you.

Don’t get carried away! Pick something simple and reasonably priced. Don’t blow your whole budget a piece of paper that will get thrown away by all of your guests after they get the important information added to the calendars on their phone.

Budget for postage! Mailing costs add up much quicker than you want them too. If you are including anything in your invitation above and beyond the invitation itself (RSVP card, reception information..etc) it’s also a good idea to take your invitation by the post office to make sure you can still mail it with one stamp.

Take advantage of special offers! If you’re reading this blog post you’re probably already a savvy online shopper, so put those skills to use when it comes to ordering your invitations. Lots of websites offer discounts for signing up for email lists, first time customers, orders of over $100…etc. You may even be able to find some invitation sites that will offer free addressing or other perks. PS. If you haven’t set-up a free gmail account for all things wedding, this is a good time to do that so you are on wedding mailing lists forever.

Okay now go explore! Here are a few things to consider concerning your invitation & RSVP options, check out 7 places to order free samples from to get an idea of what you like, AND check out 4 places to order invitations for under $1.

  1. Thank you so much for sharing these. I’m not getting married but I spent 2 hours on the phone with my best friend last night who is and as her Maid of honor I am doing some serious planning. While I’m obviously not picking out her invitations I am on the hunt for the cute bridal shower invites and these are great tips…especially the thinking of the postage.

  2. I gave up on looking for invites after I went on Etsy and saw how expensive they are. I’m glad to know there are some reasonable options out there as well!

  3. I absolutely love Minted invites and greeting cards! Another great option is Fivver. For my lifestyle blog and separate thank-you-note website I just contracted with a fantastic graphic designer to create unique products for me. And they were very affordable!

  4. Great! Love these tips! I help recommend my brides that I photograph over to some places for invites. And I think it’s always important to not get carried away at spending so much money on invites!
